Meaningful Monday Message

I did my best! Really? A lesson from Coach John Wooden

Doing your best is not about the result. You know you did your best before you know the result.

Over the long term, the average person who constantly puts themselves in a good position beats the genius who finds themselves in a poor position.

Wooden’s Eight Rules for Success:

  1. Fear no opponent – but respect every opponent.
  2. Remember that the perfections of the smallest details make big things happen.
  3. Understand that Hustle makes up for many a mistake.
  4. Be more interested in Character than reputation.
  5. Be quick, but don’t hurry.
  6. Know that the harder you work, the more luck you will have.
  7. Recognize that valid self-analysis is crucial for improvement.
  8. There is no substitute for hard work and careful planning.
